There’s something honest about the B-side. Nobody polished it to death, nobody ran it through three rounds of executive feedback, and nobody paid a focus group to weigh in on whether it was “on brand.” It was just the extra song — the weird one, the raw one, the one the label wasn’t sure about. That energy is exactly what this is.

B-Side Liner Notes is the corner of the record they forgot to clean up. Music reviews, show write-ups, gear obsessions, takes so scorching they might blister the screen, and stories from the kinds of nights that probably shouldn’t be documented — but here we are, documenting them anyway.

This isn’t a content calendar. It’s a dispatch from someone who’s been in the van, on the stage, behind the board, and in front of the amp for a long time. Sometimes it’ll be a thoughtful breakdown of a record you absolutely need to hear. Sometimes it’ll be a rant about a piece of equipment that changed everything. Sometimes it’ll be a horror story from a show that went completely sideways before the second song even landed.

What’s Coming Down the Line

Expect reviews — records both new and buried deep, shows worth talking about, and the occasional retrospective on something that never got half the credit it deserved. Expect gear deep-dives, because the stuff you play through is half the conversation. Expect Hot Takes, which are exactly what they sound like: short, direct, and with zero apologies attached.

And expect Horror Stories. Every musician has them — the show where everything fell apart, the booking disaster, the PA system that sounded like a fax machine trapped inside a blender, the promoter who vanished with the door money right after load-in. Those stories deserve to be told. Preferably with names changed and a strong drink in hand.

Let’s Run It

B-Side Liner Notes is live. No grand launch event, no countdown timer, no press release — just a post on a Tuesday and a blank page with a lot of potential. That feels about right.

Come back often. Bring your opinions. It’s going to get loud in here.
